Foreign Teacher Insists Not Homeless But "Living off the grid"

Saigon - Upon completion of the final touches of his new cardboard accommodation, a foreign English teacher refuted any claims that his new "apartment" is a sign of any financial woes, but rather an attempt to be more environmentally conscious.

The man, who moved into the 12 square meter cardboard box "apartment" (which he constructed this morning after an unfortunate rent related altercation with his landlord) insists that "living off the grid" is something he actually has been considering for quite a while.

"Listen, for the last time, this is NOT a financial decision. Will I COINCIDENTALLY save money? Yes, obviously. But this is, and I cannot emphasize this enough, NOT why I moved in here. After completing a WWF quiz the other night, I realized that my environmental footprint has gotten out of hand recently. Hence, I made the (rather noble decision if I may say so myself) to live off the grid."

Despite using plastic sheets to cover the roof and (in a quintessentially South African way) using electricity from an illegal connection he made to a nearby traffic light (which somehow only charges his phone when the traffic light is orange), he still claims that his new home is green and off the grid. He added that he wouldn't be surprised if future generations erect a statue of him after everything he's done for the environment.

At press time the man, having had his motorbike repossessed on Sunday, proudly commenced his "more environmentally friendly" 3 hour walk to district 7 for a Tinder date.
